บึงสีไฟ เป็นแหล่งน้ำจืดขนาดใหญ่ของประเทศไทย ตั้งอยู่ในจังหวัดพิจิตร โดยเป็นแหล่งน้ำขนาดใหญ่เป็นอันดับสาม[1] หรืออันดับห้าของประเทศ[2] รองจาก บึงบอระเพ็ด ทะเลสาบหนองหาน บึงละหานและ กว๊านพะเยา ตามลำดับ โดยบึงสีไฟมีเนื้อที่ 5,390 ไร่ ซึ่งลดลงมาภายหลังจากการสร้างเขื่อนสิริกิติ์ ที่เดิมบึงสีไฟมีเนื้อที่มากกว่า 10,000 ไร่ บึงสีไฟเป็นแหล่งเพาะพันธุ์สัตว์น้ำจืด แหล่งอาศัยของนกหลายชนิด และยังเป็นสถานที่พักผ่อนหย่อนใจที่สำคัญของจังหวัดพิจิตรด้วย

บึงสีไฟถือได้ว่าเป็นสัญลักษณ์แห่งแรกของจังหวัดพิจิตร ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ในตำบลในเมือง อำเภอเมือง อยู่ห่างจากศาลากลางจังหวัดพิจิตรไปทางทิศตะวันตกเพียง 1 กิโลเมตร บึงแห่งนี้มีอาณาเขตติดต่อกับ 4 ตำบลในอำเภอเมืองพิจิตร ได้แก่ ตำบลท่าหลวง ตำบลโรงช้าง ตำบลคลองคะเชนทร์ และตำบลเมืองเก่า บึงมีความลึกเฉลี่ยประมาณ 1.5 - 2 เมตร ซึ่งถือว่าไม่ลึกมากนัก

มีจุดที่น่าสนใจหลายแห่ง ดังนี้

สวนสมเด็จพระศรีนครินทร์ พิจิตร สร้างขึ้นเพื่อเฉลิมพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระศรีนครินทราบรมราชชนนี เนื่องในวโรกาสพระชนมายุครบ 80 พรรษา เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2527 มีเนื้อที่ 170 ไร่ เป็นสวนพักผ่อนริมบึงสีไฟ มีสะพานทอดลงน้ำสู่ศาลาใหญ่ที่จัดไว้เป็นที่พักย่อน นักท่องเที่ยวนิยมมาให้อาหารปลาและชมอาทิตย์อัสดง
รูปปั้นพญาชาลวัน ตามตำนานเรื่องไกรทอง ที่เล่าว่ามีจระเข้ใหญ่ชื่อพญาชาลวัน เคยอาละวาดกินผู้คน และในที่สุดถูกไกรทองปราบลง รูปปั้นดังกล่าวตั้งอยู่ที่ด้านหน้าของบึงสีไฟ จัดสร้างเป็นอาคารขนาดย่อม มีความยาวถึง 38 เมตร กว้าง 6 เมตร สูง 5 เมตร ภายในตัวจระเข้นี้ทำเป็นห้องประชุมขนาด 25-30 ที่นั่ง และยังเป็นรูปปั้นจระเข้ที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลกอีกด้วย
สถานแสดงพันธุ์ปลาเฉลิมพระเกียรติ หรือที่นิยมเรียกกันว่า ศาลาเก้าเหลี่ยม เป็นอาคารรูปดาวเก้าแฉก ยื่นลงไปในบึงสีไฟ ภายในประกอบด้วยตู้แสดงพันธุ์ปลามากกว่า 20 ชนิด และมีการสับเปลี่ยนชนิดของปลาเป็นประจำ นอกจากนั้นตรงส่วนกลางของอาคารยังทำเป็นช่องเปิด สำหรับชมปลาในบึงสีไฟ ซึ่งมีพันธุ์ปลาชนิดต่างๆ มาชุมนุมเป็นจำนวนมาก เพื่อรอกินอาหารที่นักท่องเที่ยวโปรยให้กิน สถานแสดงพันธุ์ปลาเฉลิมพระเกียรติ อยู่ในความดูแลของ ศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนาประมงน้ำจืดพิจิตร

บ่อจระเข้ ในบริเวณเขตบึงสีไฟยังมีบ่อจระเข้ตั้งอยู่ด้วย โดยมีบ่อจระเข้ถึง 2 บ่อ คือ บ่อเก่า และบ่อใหม่ ซึ่งปัจจุบันบ่อจระเข้เก่าซึ่งมีขนาดเล็กได้ถูกยกเลิกการใช้งานไปแล้ว เพราะมีการสร้างบ่อจระเข้ใหม่ขึ้นมาแทนที่มีขนาดใหญ่มากขึ้นในบริเวณเขตบึงสีไฟเช่นเดียวกัน
