ในปัจจุบัน “คอมพิวเตอร์” ได้เข้ามามีบทบาทในการดำเนินกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ในชีวิตประจำวันของพวกเราเป็นอย่างมาก ซึ่งก็ถือเป็นเทคโนโลยีอย่างหนึ่งที่ช่วยอำนวยความสะดวกให้กับเราในด้านต่าง ๆ ดังนั้นพวกเราจะยกตัวอย่างว่า อาชีพอะไร ใช้คอม ฯ ในด้านไหน เริ่มจากอาชีพของพวกเราก่อนเลยก็คือ “นักศึกษา” โดยเฉพาะพวกเรานั้น เรียนคณะ ICT ซึ่งคณะวิชานี้ถือว่าเป็นสายการเรียนที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับคอมพิวเตอร์โดยตรง เช่น สาขาธุรกิจ ใช้ในการเขียนโปรแกรม (java) สาขาออกแบบ ใช้ในการออกแบบ ดีไซน์ (Photoshop , illustrator) และเขียนโปรแกรม (C+,Java) ส่วนสาขานิเทศศาสตร์ ใช้ในการผลิตสื่อต่างๆ
การใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในชีวิตประจำวันมีความเกี่ยวข้องกับบุคคลและอาชีพต่างๆ มากมายในสังคม ซึ่งเราจะขอนำเสนออาชีพที่ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ใน 2 ลักษณะ คือ อาชีพที่ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์เป็นหลัก และ อาชีพที่ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์เป็นส่วนช่วยส่งเสริมกับสายอาชีพ


เริ่มจากลักษณะการใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ที่มักจะเห็นได้ชัดว่ามีอาชีพที่ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในการทำงานเป็นหลัก ได้แก่
-โปรแกรมเมอร์ ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในการเขียนโปรแกรม
-นักบัญชี ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในการบันทึกรายรับ รายจ่ายของบริษัท
-สถาปนิก ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในการออกแบบโครงสร้างของสถาปัตยกรรม
-สตูดิโอถ่ายภาพ ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในการตัดต่อ รีทัชรูปภาพ
-อาจารย์ ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์เป็นสื่อการเรียนการสอน
และลักษณะการใช้คอมพิวเตอร์เป็นส่วนช่วยส่งเสริมกับอาชีพ ได้แก่
-เกษตรกร อาจจะใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในการโฆษณาผลิตภัณฑ์ของตัวเอง เพื่อให้เป็นที่รู้จักของผู้คนจำนวนมาก
-ธุรกิจร้านค้า เช่น 7-11 ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในการให้บริการลูกค้าในด้านต่างๆ เช่น การชำระสินค้า-ค่าบริการต่าง ๆ ทำรายงานยอดขาย หรือ เช็คสินค้าในสต๊อกและคิดเงินลูกค้า และอาชีพอื่นๆ
