We have Lights, Antennas, Sheaves, Gratings, Snatch Blocks etc. in our operation that have securing devices to prevent DROPPED objects from occurring. Should the Primary and Secondary Retention fail then the securing device will become the safety system that prevents a DROPPED Object incident. Can we think of any on our location?
It is critical that the Securing device is robust enough to withstand the Shock Loading and prevent the item from dropping.
Remember the magnitude of the Shock Load can be many times that of the load being lifted. It is important to calculate the Shock Load as this will reduce the risk of a Dropped Object.
