อุดม แต้พานิช หรือ โน้ส เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 1 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2511 ที่จังหวัดชลบุรี เป็นบุตรของนางทองสุข แต้พานิช มีพี่น้อง 3 คน เป็นคนกลาง ไม่สำเร็จการศึกษาจากแผนกวิชาพาณิชยศิลป์ วิทยาลัยเพาะช่าง

เริ่มงานแรกเป็นคนเขียนการ์ตูนที่ชัยพฤกษ์ ทำได้สองเดือนก็ลาออกด้วยเหตุผลที่มันไม่ตรงกับใจเท่าไร เมื่อได้อ่าน ไปยาลใหญ่ ฉบับแรกบนแผงรู้สึกถูกใจในบุคลิกของหนังสือ อยากร่วมงานด้วย ครั้งแรกไปสมัคร TRY OUT เป็นนักแสดงละครของศิษย์สะดือ ด้วยลูกตื้อและบุคลิกที่ไม่เหมือนใคร จึงได้ร่วมงานกับศิษย์สะดือสมใจ ความรักของมาลัยในห้องไอซียู เป็นละครเรื่องแรกที่เล่น ได้รับบทเป็นคนแก่ในโรงพยาบาล จบจากละครก็ก้าวเข้าสู่ถนนหนังสือ ในตำแหน่งฝ่ายศิลปของไปยาลใหญ่

ที่ไปยาลใหญ่ถือเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนของชีวิต สังคมในไปยาลใหญ่ล้วนเป็นนักอ่านตัวยงด้วยกันทั้งนั้น อุดมได้รับอิทธิพลนี้มาและได้มาค้นพบโลกของตัวเองอีกโลกหนึ่งที่นี่ คือโลกของการอ่าน แล้วยังค้นพบความสามารถในการเขียนหนังสือ เมื่ออุดมอ่านหนังสือมากๆ จึงเกิดแรงใจอยากเขียนหนังสือให้คนอื่นอ่านบ้างครั้งหนึ่งในชีวิตแตงโมปั่น งานเขียนเรื่องแรกแจ้งเกิดในสนามไปยาลใหญ่นั่นเอง มี ศุ บุญเลี้ยงเป็นบรรณาธิการ หลังจากงานได้ตีพิมพ์ อุดม เริ่มรับผิดชอบคอลัมน์ต่างๆ ในไปยาลใหญ่ โดยใช้นามปากกาว่า "โน้สหน้ามึน หลานเจ๊นี้ขายผลไม้" ควบคู่ตำแหน่งฝ่ายศิลปของหนังสือ ใครที่เป็นแฟนไปยาลใหญ่คงคุ้นเคยและติดอกติดใจกับเกมส์กวนๆ ในคอลัมน์ ‘สารภีมีดีให้’ อุดมเป็นสารภีในช่วงท้ายของหนังสือก่อนที่ไปยาลใหญ่จะปิดตัวเองลง

อุดมพาความสามารถเข้าสู่เส้นทางสายบันเทิงโดยเริ่มจากเป็นตัวประกอบในรายการวิก 07 ของ เจเอสแอล และเล่นเกมส์รายการจุดเดือด ทางผู้ใหญ่ในเจเอสแอลประทับใจลีลาจึงชักชวนมาร่วมงานด้วยในรายการ ยุทธการขยับเหงือก ซึ่งเป็นรายการ Comedian Show ที่มีความนิยมเป็นอันดับต้นๆ ของช่อง 5 ในยุคนั้น จึงทำให้อุดมได้แจ้งเกิดในวงการบันเทิงอย่าง เต็มตัวในชื่อ เสนาฯ โน้ส และต่อมาในยุคอดีตนั้นเคยแสดงเป็นตัวปริศนาในภาพ VTR กับคุณหมี ปลื้มที่ใช้ชื่อว่า "ปริศนา อ้วน-ผอม" ในรายการชิงร้อยชิงล้าน ของบริษัท เวิร์คพอยท์ เอ็นเทอร์เทนเมนท์ จำกัด (มหาชน) ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2533 ถึงต้นปี พ.ศ. 2535 ทางช่อง 7 หลังจากความสำเร็จในครั้งแรก อุดม แต้พานิช ได้ตัดสินใจแยกตัวออกมาจากรายการยุทธการขยับเหงือก และได้สร้างปรากฏการณ์ขึ้นในเมืองไทย นั่นก็คือ การพูดตลกคนเดียวบนเวที ทำให้คนไทย ได้รู้จักคำว่า Stand Up Comedy หรือ ในชื่อไทย เดี่ยวไมโครโฟน เป็นครั้งแรก

การแสดงเดี่ยวไมโครโฟนครั้งแรกจัดขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2538 และนี่ถือเป็นการเริ่มต้น ส่งผลให้ อุดม แต้พานิช ได้กลายเป็นตลกเดี่ยวชั้นแนวหน้าของประเทศ จนเกิด เดี่ยว 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,7 เป็นโชว์คนเดียวกับไมค์ ซึ่งมีคนรอบัตรและเข้าดูเป็นจำนวนมาก จนถึงกับต้องเปิดการแสดงติดต่อกันมากทุกครั้ง ในประเทศนี้นอกจาก เบิร์ด ธงไชย แมคอินไตย์ แล้ว ก็เห็นจะมีเขานี่แหละที่ทำอย่างนั้นได้
