1.การเกิดการระบาดของโรคติดเชื้ออุบัติใหม่และโรคอุบัติซ้ำจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงประชากรด้านโครงสร้าง
และการเคลื่อนย้ายแรงงานจากต่างประเทศเข้ามาในประเทศไทยในการก้าวเข้าสู่ประชาคมอาเซียน โดยศึกษาเกี่ยวกับโรคที่เกิดขึ้น นำความรู้ความเข้าใจที่ได้จากการค้นคว้า มาเป็นแนวทางในการแก้ปัญหาในระดับนักศึกษาพยาบาลได้โดยใช้หลักการควบคุมและป้องกันโรค ที่สามารถเข้าไปมีส่วนร่วมในการแก้ปัญหาโดยแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ระดับ ระดับ 1การป้องกันโรคล่วงหน้า (Primary Prevention) ซึ่งเป็นการป้องกันโรคก่อนระยะที่เกิดโรค โดยการให้สุขศึกษาเกี่ยวกับความรู้ทั่วไปในการป้องกันโรค
ระดับ 2การป้องกันในระยะมีโรคเกิด(Secondary Prevention) ซึ่งกิจกรรมที่นักศึกษาพยาบาลสามารถทำได้ เช่น -การช่วยค้นหาผู้ป่วยให้ได้ในระยะเริ่มแรก การป้องกันการแพร่เชื้อควบคู่กับการให้สุขศึกษา
ระดับ 3การป้องกันการเกิดความพิการ และการไร้สมรรถภาพ (Tertiary Prevention) โดยแนะนำ และให้ข้อมูลแก่ประชาชน
