ทั้งนี้จากผลการสำรวจทักษะการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนใน44ประเทศทั่วโลกโดยสถาบัน Education First พบว่านักเรียนไทยอยู่ในอันดับที่42 ซึ่งจัดว่าอยู่ในกลุ่มที่มีทักษะภาอังกฤษต่ำกว่าระดับมาตรฐานมาก โดยมีผลคะแนนที่ต่ำกว่าหลายประเทศในอาเซียน
