ในการเตรียมพิธีนิกะห์นั้น พิธีก็จะเริ่มจากการแห่ขันหมากของฝ่ายเจ้าบ่าวตามปกติ โดยพิธีต่างๆ แขกต่างศาสนาสามารถเข้าร่วมเป็นพยานในพิธีได้ค่ะ ไม่จำเป็นต้องเป็นคนศาสนาอิสลามเท่านั้นจึงจะเข้าร่วมได้ พอขบวญขันหมากมาถึงบ้านเจ้าบ่าวก็จะต้องเข้ามาในที่ประชุม โดยที่ประชุมจะต้องประกอบด้วยองค์ประกอบดังนี้

1. ตัวแทนทำพิธี จะเป็นอิหม่ามหรืออาจารย์ที่เป็นตัวแทนก็ได้

2. เจ้าบ่าว

3. เจ้าสาว

4. พ่อเจ้าสาว หรือตัวแทนของพ่อเจ้าสาว โดยต้องมีการซักซ้อมบทสนทนาในพิธีร่วมกับเจ้าบ่าว

5. มีพยานรับรู้ ซึ่งต้องเป็นคนอิสลาม เป็นชายตั้งแต่ 2 คนขึ้นไป และเป็นหญิงตั้งแต่ 4 คนขึ้นไป

6. นักอ่านกุรอ่านหรืออิสลามที่สามารถอ่านกุลอ่านได้


#ขั้นตอนในพิธีนิกะห์
1. องค์ประชุมครบก็สามารถเริ่มอ่านกุรอ่านได้

4. หลังจากนั้นก็จะมีการชี้แจงสินสอดที่เรียกว่า มะฮัร ให้ที่ประชุม ที่เป็นพยานรับทราบ

5. จบแล้วก็จะมีการขอดุอา คือการขอพรจากพระผู้เป็นเจ้าจากผุ้รู้

6. เจ้าบ่าวก็ไปรับตัวหรือเชิญเจ้าสาวออกมาได้ ก็จะมีบทสนทนาบ่าวสาวอีกนิดหน่อยเป็นอันจบพิธี
