การรับรู้เรื่องคนพิการผ่านสื่อในปัจจุบันยังไม่ต่างจากสถานการณ์ที่ผ่านมามากนัก กล่าว คือประชาชนยังรับรู้ หรือมีความเชื่อตามที่สื่อส่วนใหญ่นำเสนอ ว่า ความพิการ หรือคนพิการเกิดจากบาปกรรมที่คนพิการ คนในครอบครัว หรือคนใกล้ชิดทำไว้ในชาติก่อน รวมถึง คนพิการรักษาไม่หาย ช่วยเหลือตัวเองไม่ได้ ทำอะไรไม่ได้ น่าสงสาร น่าเวทนา
