Dogs are one of the most popular pets. There is a saying, “Dogs are men’s best friends”; which I totally agree. I am a dog lover and I have so many reasons to give why I love dogs. This mini research idea came up to my mind after talking to some peers about our favorite pets. I asked my classmates about the reasons why they kept pets to see if they had the same or different reasons. There are 50 students in my class, but I collected data from 48 classmates the day I did this mini research because two of them were absent. Forty participants were selected to be part of this research because they identified themselves dog lovers. The results were interesting and eye-opening. Even though most of my peers loved dogs, the reasons why they kept dogs as pets were different.
Forty peers in my class said they kept dogs at their places with different reasons. Eighteen friends said they got their dogs from relatives or neighbors for free. Twelve said they purchased their pet dogs. Six respondent received dogs as birthday presents and four said they adopted stray dogs because those dogs followed them after receiving food from them regularly.
Even though the reasons why my classmates kept pets were different, all of them that they enjoyed having dogs around their places because dogs were loving and loyal. No matter what reason the respondents gave about keeping dogs as their pets, all of them admitted that they cried whenever they dogs died. I was not surprised to learn about this from my peers since I am not different from them. Every time my dog dies, it takes me quite long to overcome the loss. This is because I take dogs as members of my family and good friends. Dogs are men’s best friend.
