การวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบทักษะการอ่านก่อนและหลังการทำกิจกรรมพัฒนาทักษะการอ่าน กลุ่มเป้าหมายคือนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 โรงเรียนบ้านวังสารภี อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี ในภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2556 จำนวน 27 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย แบบฝึกการอ่านเรื่อง New Year’s Day และแบบฝึกทักษะการอ่านวัดความสามารถในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษ ใช้วัดก่อนและหลังการทดลอง โดยวัดความสามารถด้านการอ่านเป็นรายบุคคล จำนวน 20 ข้อ ซึ่งสรุป อภิปรายผล และข้อเสนอแนะมีรายละเอียดดังต่อไปนี้คือ
