จากการศึกษาค้นคว้าพบว่า ผ้ากาบบัว เป็นชื่อผ้าในวรรณกรรมโบราณอีสาน มีการถักทอผ้าด้วยไหมหรือฝ้ายอย่างประณีตบรรจง อาจจะมีเทคนิคการทอแบบสลับสีและตกแต่งลวดลายความสวยงามตามความนิยมของแต่ละท้องถิ่น ในการทอผ้ากาบบัวนั้นจะต้องใช้ความละเอียดอ่อนเป็นอย่างมาก ต้องทำตามขั้นตอนในแต่ละขั้นอย่างประณีต ลวดลายผ้ากาบบัวเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของชาวบ้านในแต่ละท้องถิ่นนั้นไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นง่ายๆ แต่เกิดขึ้นจากสภาพแวดล้อมและสถานภาพ ความเป็นอยู่ในแต่ละท้องถิ่นซึ่งทำให้เกิดความเป็นเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัวจึงเกิดความงดงามที่แตกต่างกันไป ภูมิปัญญาก็ต้องอาศัยการสั่งสมความรู้เดิมจากบรรพบุรุษและการฝึกฝนซ้ำๆอย่างคุ้นเคยเสมอจึงจะเกิดการพัฒนาภูมิปัญญาให้เข้ากับแต่ละยุคแต่ละช่วงสมัยตามกาลเวลา
