• ผู้เข้ารับการตรวจจะกลืนแคปซูลขนาด 24x11 มิลลิเมตร ที่มีกล้องขนาดจิ๋วติดอยู่พร้อมน้ำโดยไม่ต้องเคี้ยว
• จากนั้นแคปซูลจะเดินทางไปตามส่วนต่างๆ ของระบบทางเดินอาหาร โดยอาศัยการบีบตัวของกระเพาะอาหารและลำไส้ พร้อมกับถ่ายภาพและส่งเป็นสัญญาณวิทยุมายังชุดรับสัญญาณที่ติดอยู่บริเวณหน้าท้องของผู้ป่วย
• การตรวจวินิจฉัยด้วยการใช้กล้องแคปซูลจะใช้เวลาทั้งหมดประมาณ 8 ชั่วโมง หลังการกลืนแคปซูลประมาณ 2 ชั่วโมง
• ผู้เข้ารับการตรวจสามารถรับประทานของเหลว หรือขนมขบเคี้ยวได้บ้าง
• ระหว่างการตรวจผู้เข้ารับการตรวจสามารถทำกิจกรรมต่างๆ ได้ตามปกติ
