ถ้าขาดขันติเสียแล้ว จะไม่มีงานชิ้นใด เลยสำเร็จได้เลย เพราะขันติเป็นคุณธรรมสำหรับทั้ง ต่อต้านความท้อถอยหดหู่ ขับเคลื่อนเร่งเร้าให้ เกิดความขยัน และทำให้เห็นอุปสรรคต่าง ๆ เป็นเครื่องท้าทาย ความสามารถ ดังนั้น อาจกล่าวได้ว่า ความสำเร็จของงานทุกชิ้น ทั้งทางโลกและทางธรรม คือ อนุสาวรีย์ของขันติทั้งสิ้น

โดยเหตุนี้ พระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าจึงตรัสว่า

” ยกเว้นปัญญาแล้ว เราสรรเสริญว่าขันติเป็นคุณ ธรรมอย่างยิ่ง “ลักษณะของความอดทนที่ถูกต้อง
