For better comparison, the morphological differences of skin,sub-skin and gas-channel layer of annealed and non-annealedspecimens are presented. The microstructural evolution of theHDPE specimen annealed at a temperature (Ta) of 80 ◦C for 2 his shown in Figs 4(a)–(c). It can be seen that the skin, sub-skinand gas-channel layers are characterized by oriented lamellarstacks perpendicular to the flow direction, shish-kebab structureand common spherulites, respectively. Compared with the nonannealed sample, the morphological evolution of HDPE partsannealed at 80 ◦C along the residual thickness, namely from theskin to the gas-channel zone, is similar.
