การกำหนดรูปแบบพฤติกรรมนักท่องเที่ยว

นักวิชาการด้านการท่องเที่ยวได้กำหนดรูปแบบของนักท่องเที่ยว (Typology : a systematic classification or study of types) เพื่ออธิบายพฤติกรรมนักท่องเที่ยว การพัฒนารูปแบบของนักท่องเที่ยวส่วนใหญ่ได้มาจากข้อมูลที่ได้รับจากการสัมภาษณ์หรือการใช้แบบสอบถาม (questionnaire) การกำหนดรูปแบบพฤติกรรมนักท่องเที่ยวอาจทำได้หลายวิธี ทั้งนี้ขึ้นอยู่กับวัตถุประสงค์และวิธีการที่ใช้

การกำหนดรูปแบบพฤติกรรมนักท่องเที่ยวรูปแบบพื้นฐานที่สุดคือ การแบ่งนักท่องเที่ยวออกเป็น 2 กลุ่ม ตามลักษณะของพฤติกรรมของการเดินทาง คือ การแบ่งว่าบุคคลนั้นเป็น 1) นักท่องเที่ยว (Tourists) หรือ 2) นักเดินทาง (travelers) นักท่องเที่ยวคือ บุคคลซึ่งซื้อรายการนำเที่ยวเหมาจ่ายจากบริษัทนำเที่ยว ในขณะที่นักเดินทางคือบุคคลซึ่งจัดการการเดินทางด้วยตนเอง เช่น ซื้อตั๋วเครื่องบินเอง จองที่พักเอง กำหนดสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวด้วยตนเอง เป็นต้น

Perreault และ Dorden (1979) ได้เสนอรูปแบบพฤติกรรมนักท่องเที่ยวออกเป็น 4 รูปแบบ ได้แก่

1) นักท่องเที่ยวแบบประหยัด (Budget Travelers) โดยทั่วไปแล้วนักท่องเที่ยวประเภทนี้ทีรายได้ปานกลาง แต่แสวงหาการหยุดพักผ่อนหรือท่องเที่ยวที่ใช้ค่าใช้จ่ายต่ำ

2) นักท่องเที่ยวชอบผจญภัย (Adventurous Travelers) เป็นนักท่องเที่ยวที่มีการศึกษาดีและมีรายได้ปานกลางถึงสูง มีความชื่นชอบในกิจกรรมระหว่างการหยุดพักผ่อนหรือการท่องเที่ยวแบบผจญภัย

3) นักท่องเที่ยวประเภทเดินทางระหว่างวันหยุด (Vacationers Travelers) เป็นนักท่องเที่ยวกลุ่มเล็กๆ ซึ่งมักใช้เวลาในการคิดเกี่ยวกับการท่องเที่ยวหรือการเดินทางในครั้งต่อไปว่าจะไปที่ไหน อย่างไร นักท่องเที่ยวกลุ่มนี้ค่อนข้างมีความกระตือรือร้นแต่มีรายได้ค่อนข้างนัอย

1) นักท่องเที่ยวแบบนันทนาการ (Recreational Tourists) เป็นนักท่องเที่ยวซึ่งเน้นความสำคัญในกิจกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการนันทนาการหรือการพักผ่อนทางร่างกาย

2) นักท่องเที่ยวแบบปลีกตัวหาความเพลิดเพลิน (The Diversionary Tourists) เป็นนักท่องเที่ยวที่พยายามทางแนวทางเพื่อลืมความจำเจในชีวิตประจำวัน

3) นักท่องเที่ยวมุ่งหาประสบการณ์ (The Experiential Tourists) เป็นนักท่องเที่ยวที่เดินทางเพื่อแสวงหาประสบการณ์ที่แท้จริง นักท่องเที่ยวประเภทนี้สนใจศึกษาและได้รับ

5) นักท่องเที่ยวที่ใช้ชีวิตแบบคนท้องถิ่น (The Existential Tourists) นักท่องเที่ยวประเภทนี้ต้องการฝังตัวเองหรือใช้ชีวิตภายใต้วัฒนธรรมและวิถีชีวิตเดียวกับคนท้องถิ่น นักท่องเที่ยวประเภทนี้จะใช้เวลาอยู่ในแหล่งท่องเที่ยวนั้นเป็นเวลานาน ตัวอย่างเช่น นักท่องเที่ยวที่มาใช้เวลาอยู่ในแหล่งท่องเที่ยวบางแห่งในประเทศไทย เช่น พัทยาหรือเชียงใหม่ และพยายามใช้ชีวิตเช่นเดียวกับคนท้องถิ่น ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการปฏิบัติตัว การับประทานอาหาร การพยายามพูดภาษาท้องถิ่น เป็นต้น

2) นักท่องเที่ยวประเภทชอบผูกมิตร (Contact-minded holiday makers) มีจิตใจชอบติดต่อพบปะกับผู้อื่น แสวงหามิตรใหม่โดนเฉพาะที่เป็นคนท้องถิ่น

3) นักท่องเที่ยวประเภทชอบชมธรรมชาติ (Nature Viewers) ชอบความงดงามของภูมิทัศน์ของแหล่งท่องเที่ยว

4) นักท่องเที่ยวประเภทแสวงหาการพักผ่อน (Rest-seekers) ใช้เวลาไปกับการนอนพักผ่อนหย่อนใจมากกว่าการทำกิจกรรมอื่นๆ

5) นักค้นหา (Discovers) ชอบกิจกรรมประเภทผจญภัยและชอบแสวงหามิตรใหม่

6) นักท่องเที่ยวแบบเดินทางพร้อมครอบครัว (Family-orientated) เป็นนักท่องเที่ยวที่หลงใหลในแสงแดดและทะเล และชอบเดินทางท่องเที่ยวแบบไปเป็นครอบครัว

7) นักท่องเที่ยวแบบประเพณีนิยม (Traditionalists) ชอบเดินทางท่องเที่ยวที่เน้นความปลอดภัยและไม่เสี่ยงภัย
