การเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครองเมื่อวันที่ ๒๔ มิถุนายน พ.ศ. ๒๔๗๕ นับว่ามีความสำคัญเป็นอย่างยิ่งในประวัติศาสตร์การปกครองของชาติไทย เนื่องจากเป็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครองจากระบอบสมบูรณาญาสิทธิราชย์เป็นระบอบประชาธิปไตย โดยมีพระมหากษัตริย์เป็นประมุขอยู่ภายใต้รัฐธรรมนูญอันเป็นกฎหมายสูงสุดของประเทศ
