ความเป็นมาของโครงการ
จากข้อมูลไทยรัฐออนไลน์วันที่ 21 ม.ค. 2558 เปิดเผยถึงสถิติการท่องเที่ยวไทยในปี 2557 อย่างเป็นทางการว่า มีนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติเข้ามาเที่ยวประเทศไทย 24.77 ล้านคน นำรายได้เข้าประเทศ 11.47 ล้านบาท นักท่องเที่ยวที่เข้ามาเที่ยวประเทศไทยมากที่สุด 3 ประเทศ ได้แก่ จีน 4.62 ล้านคน มาเลเซีย 2.64 ล้านคน และรัสเซีย 1.60 ล้านคน ทั้งนี้การขยายตัวของนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติที่เดินทางเข้าประเทศไทยในไตรมาสที่ 4 พบว่านักท่องเที่ยวจากหลายประเทศขยายตัวถึง 7% โดยเฉพาะจีนขยายตัวเกือบ 70% มีผลช่วยให้ภาคการท่องเที่ยวโดยรวมของปี 2557 ดีขึ้น
และจากผลสำรวจจำนวนนักท่องเที่ยวที่มาเยี่ยมชมวัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดารามราชวรมหาวิหาร(วัดพระแก้ว) สถานที่ที่นักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาตินิยมมาเยี่ยมชมเป็นอันดับต้น ๆ ในวันที่ 20 เมษายน 2557 นายชูวิทย์ กมลวิศิษฏ์ ได้กล่าวถึงจำนวนนักท่องเที่ยวที่ปกติจะมีนักท่องเที่ยวถึง 15, 000 คนต่อวัน แต่ปัจจุบันลดลงเหลือเพียง 7,000 คนต่อวันเท่านั้นเป็นเพราะปัญหาในประเทศไทย ทั้งเศรษฐกิจ นักท่องเที่ยว ธุรกิจต่าง ๆ พังทลายลงอย่างรวดเร็ว ส่งผลกระทบต่อทุก ๆด้านภายในประเทศไทย เป็นเหตุให้นักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติที่เข้ามาในประเทศไทยมีจำนวนลดลงอย่างเห็นได้ชัด
ผู้จัดทำจึงได้เล็งเห็นความสำคัญของการท่องเที่ยวของชาวต่างชาติที่มาเที่ยวเมืองไทยโดยเฉพาะวัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดารามราชวรมหาวิหาร(วัดพระแก้ว)ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่อันดับต้น ๆ ที่มีนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติที่มาเยี่ยมชมเป็นจำนวนมาก จึงได้จัดทำโครงการการสำรวจความพึงพอใจของนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติที่มาเยี่ยมชมวัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดารามราชวรมหาวิหาร(วัดพระแก้ว)ขึ้นมา

วัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัย
- เพื่อสำรวจความพึงพอใจของนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติที่มีต่อการเยี่ยมชมวัดพระแก้ว
- เพื่อสำรวจความต้องการของนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติที่มาเยี่ยมชมวัดพระแก้ว
- เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาของชาวต่างชาติที่เดินทางเข้ามาท่องเที่ยววัดพระแก้ว
สมมติฐานการวิจัย
นักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติสนใจพระพุทธมหามณีรัตนปฏิมากร(พระแก้วมรกต)เป็นอย่างดี
กรอบแนวคิดที่ใช้ในการวิจัย
