ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์พื้นที่เสี่ยงภัยต่อการเกิดหลุมยุบในพื้นที่อำเภอโนนไทย จังหวัดนครราชสีมา โดยใช้ระบบสารสนเทศทางภูมิศาสตร์ การศึกษาโดยวิธีกำหนดค่าถ่วงน้ำหนักและให้ค่าคะแนนตามลำดับความสำคัญของปัจจัยที่มีผลกระทบต่อการเกิดหลุมยุบพบว่าการศึกษาและวิเคราะห์หาพื้นที่เสี่ยงต่อการเกิดหลุมยุบ โดยใช้เครื่องมือทาง GIS ในการวิเคราะห์และซ้อนทับข้อมูลและมีการจัดทำแบบสอบถาม AHP เพื่อให้ผู้เชี่ยวชาญให้ค่าน้ำหนักในแต่ละปัจจัย ปัจจัยที่มีผลกระทบต่อการเกิดหลุมยุบนั้น มีอยู่ 4 ปัจจัย ได้แก่ โพรงเกลือใต้ดิน บ่อสูบน้ำเกลือ ความลึกของชั้นเกลือจากผิวดิน ลักษณะธรณีวิทยา โดยกำหนดความเสี่ยงเป็น 3 ระดับ ได้แก่ความเสี่ยงต่อการเกิดหลุมยุบสูง ปานกลาง และต่ำ และเปรียบเทียบกับข้อมูลหลุมยุบจากการสำรวจภาคสนาม ในพื้นที่อำเภอโนนไทย จังหวัดนครราชสีมา ซึ่งผลการวิจัยสามารถใช้เป็นข้อมูลในการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่เสี่ยงต่อการเกิดหลุมยุบในพื้นที่ศึกษาต่อไป
