ลักษณะทาง พฤกษศาสตร์ ไม้พุ่ม สูง 2 – 5 ม. ทุกส่วนมีน้ำยางสีขาวปนเทา เปลือกเรียบ เกลี้ยง
ใบ เดี่ยว เรียงสลับกัน รูปค่อนข้างกลมหรือไข่ป้อมๆ กว้าง 7 – 11 ซม. ยาว 7 – 16 ซม. ปลายใบแหลม ขอบใบเรียบหรือมีรอยหยัก 3 – 5 หยัก ฐานใบเว้าเป็นรูปหัวใจ เส้นใบออกจากจุดเดียวกันที่โคนใบ 5 – 7 เส้น ตามเส้นใบมีขนอ่อนปกคลุม ก้านใบยาว 6 – 18 ซม.
ดอก สีเหลือง ออกเป็นช่อที่ยอดและตามง่ามใบ ดอกเพศผู้และดอกเพศเมียอยู่บนต้นเดียวกัน ช่อดอกยาว 6 – 10 ซม. ดอกเพศผู้ มีกลีบรองกลีบดอก 5 กลีบ ยาว 4 – 5 มม. กลีบดอก 5 กลีบ เชื่อมติดกันเป็นหลอด ภายในหลอดมีขน เกสรผู้ 10 อันเรียงเป็น 2 วง ๆ ละ 5 อัน อับเรณูตั้งตรง ดอกเพศเมีย กลีบดอกไม่ติดกัน รังไข่และท่อรังไข่เกลี้ยง บางทีมีเกสรผู้ฝ่อ 5 อัน ภายในรังไข่มี 2 – 4 ช่อง มีไข่อ่อนช่องละ 1 หน่วย
