กรมทางหลวง กำหนดพิกัดน้ำหนักรถบรรทุกกึ่งพ่วงใหม่ มีผลบังคับใช้ 1 มกราคม 2558
กรมทางหลวง โดยสำนักงานควบคุมน้ำหนักยานพาหนะเปิดเผยว่า ตามที่กรมทางหลวงได้มีประกาศผู้อำนวยการทางหลวงฯ เรื่อง ห้ามใช้ยานพาหนะที่มีน้ำหนัก น้ำหนักบรรทุก หรือน้ำหนักลงเพลาเกินกว่าที่กฎหมายกำหนด หรือโดยที่ยานพาหนะนั้นอาจทำให้ทางหลวงเสียหายเดินบนทางหลวงพิเศษ ทางหลวงแผ่นดิน ทางหลวงสัมปทาน(ฉบับที่ 2) พ.ศ.2552 โดยตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 มกราคม 2558 เป็นต้นไป กำหนดให้น้ำหนักรถบรรทุกกึ่งพ่วง 6 เพลา 22 ล้อ (SEMI-TRAILER) มีน้ำหนักรวม ตามระยะห่างระหว่างสลักพ่วง (KING PIN) กับศูนย์กลางของเพลาที่ 1 ของตัว
รถกึ่งพ่วงดังนี้

1. รถกึ่งพ่วงที่มีระยะห่างระหว่างสลักพ่วง 4.50 แต่ไม่ถึง 6.00 เมตร น้ำหนักรวมไม่เกิน 45 ตัน

2. รถกึ่งพ่วงที่มีระยะห่างระหว่างสลักพ่วง 6.00 แต่ไม่ถึง 7.00 เมตร น้ำหนักรวมไม่เกิน 47 ตัน

3. รถกึ่งพ่วงที่มีระยะห่างระหว่างสลักพ่วง 7.00 แต่ไม่ถึง 8.00 เมตร น้ำหนักรวมไม่เกิน 49 ตัน

4. รถกึ่งพ่วงที่มีระยะห่างระหว่างสลักพ่วง 8.00 เมตรขึ้นไป น้ำหนักรวมไม่เกิน 50.5 ตัน

นอกจากนี้ การกำหนดใช้พิกัดน้ำหนักรถบรรทุกกึ่งพ่วงและรถบรรทุกพ่วงถือเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการช่วยกันดูแลสภาพทางหลวงให้อยู่ในสภาพดี ยืดอายุการใช้งานนานขึ้น และเป็นการประหยัดงบประมาณแผ่นดินที่จะนำมาบำรุงรักษาทางหลวงพิเศษ ทางหลวงแผ่นดิน และทางหลวงสัมปทาน สำหรับบทลงโทษในเรื่องการบรรทุกน้ำหนักเกินตามพ.ร.บ.ทางหลวงฯ หากผู้ใดฝ่าฝืนจะมีโทษจำคุกไม่เกิน 6 เดือน ปรับไม่เกิน 10,000 บาท หรือทั้งจำทั้งปรับ
