ในปัจจุบันสถานศึกษาได้จัดรายวิชาภาษาอังกฤษพื้นฐานโดยมีการเน้นทักษะทั้ง 4 ด้าน คือ ทักษะการฟัง การพูด การอ่าน และการเขียน อย่างบูรณาการ เพื่อให้ผู้เรียนตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของภาษาอังกฤษ และสามารถไปประยุกต์ใช้ได้จริงในชีวิตการทำงาน นอกจากนี้มีการเพิ่มรายวิชาภาษาอังกฤษที่เน้นการสื่อสารอีกด้วย เพื่อให้ผู้เรียนได้ศึกษาและสัมผัสสถานการณ์ต่างๆ อย่างไรก็ตามการจัดการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษที่ใช้เพื่อการสื่อสารนั้นยังประสบปัญหาถึงแม้จะเรียนภาษาอังกฤษมาแล้วหลายปี อีกทั้งการจัดการเรียนการสอนไม่ได้มุ่งเน้นนำความรู้ภาษาอังกฤษไปใช้ในชีวิตประจำวัน จึงย่อมส่งผลให้ผู้เรียนส่วนใหญ่มักจะรู้สึกกลัว ไม่กล้าแสดงออก และไม่ชอบภาษาอังกฤษ (อนุวัต ชัยเกียรติธรรม, 2554)
