ประวัติ
อำเภอกบินทร์บุรีมีสถานะเป็นเมืองมาตั้งแต่สมัยอยุธยา โดยมีที่ว่าการเมืองตั้งอยู่ที่บ้านหนุมาน ต่อมาเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2444 ได้ย้ายที่ว่าการเมืองไปอยู่ที่บ้านปากน้ำ ซึ่งเป็นจุดที่แควหนุมานและแควพระปรงรวมกันเป็นแม่น้ำปราจีนบุรี และเมื่อมีการปฏิรูประบบการปกครองก็มีสถานะเป็นจังหวัดกบินทร์บุรีเรื่อยมา

ต่อมาทางราชการเห็นว่าการคมนาคมระหว่างจังหวัดกบินทร์บุรีและจังหวัดปราจีนบุรีมีความสะดวกมากขึ้นแล้ว จึงมีประกาศเมื่อวันที่ 1 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2469 ให้ยุบจังหวัดกบินทร์บุรีลงเป็นอำเภอขึ้นกับจังหวัดปราจีนบุรีจนถึงปัจจุบัน
