โครงการก่อสร้างสวนสาธารณะเฉลิมพระเก

โครงการก่อสร้างสวนสาธารณะเฉลิมพระเกียรติ 84 ชันษา (สวนสาธารณะประตูเวียง) เทศบาลนครลำปาง  เป็นโครงการที่จัดสร้างขึ้นเพื่อพัฒนาสภาพแวดล้อมชุมชนเมืองให้น่าอยู่อย่างยั่งยืน และเพื่อเป็นการป้องกัน รักษา ปรับปรุงทัศนียภาพให้มีความสวยงาม เหมาะสมเป็นแหล่งพักผ่อนของประชาชน เอื้ออำนวยให้ประชาชนในเขตเมืองเก่าตำบลเวียงเหนือ มีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น  เป็นการฟื้นฟูสภาพจิตใจของประชาชนที่อาศัยอยู่บริเวณโดยรอบโรงฆ่าสัตว์ ซึ่งเคยได้รับผลกระทบมาเป็นเวลานานหลายสิบปี  และเพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมให้เด็ก เยาวชน และประชาชนทั่วไปในชุมชนที่มีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดี มีสุขภาพแข็งแรงสมบูรณ์ และส่งเสริมให้เกิดความรักสามัคคีมากขึ้น 
     ดร.นิมิตร กล่าวว่า  ขณะนี้เรามีสวนสาธารณะ และสถานที่ออกกำลังกายอยู่ทุกมุมเมืองในเขตเทศบาลนครลำปาง รวมจำนวน 6 แห่ง รวมถึง “สวนประตูเวียง” ที่ได้เปิดอย่างเป็นทางการแล้ว (21 กรกฎาคม 2555) ถือเป็นสวนสาธารณะอีกแห่งหนึ่งที่ชาวลำปาง มีความภูมิใจในความสง่างาม เสริมเสน่ห์เขตเมืองเก่านครลำปางของเราให้สมบูรณ์ยิ่งขึ้น ต้องขอขอบคุณ กรมธนารักษ์ที่มอบพื้นที่ 3 ไร่ 3 งาน 83 ตารางวา ให้แก่เทศบาลนครลำปาง ที่สามารถเนรมิตให้เป็นสวนแห่งความสุข Happiness park ให้แก่ประชาชน และขอบคุณทุกท่านที่มีส่วนทำให้เกิดความสำเร็จอย่างสมบูรณ์ และขอมอบสวนแห่งนี้ให้พี่น้องประชาชนช่วยกันดูแลรักษาให้สมกับเป็นสวนสาธารณะของประชาชนชาวลำปาง
