ที่มาและความสำคัญของโครงงาน
ในยุคโลกาภิวัตน์ในปัจจุบัน ประเทศไทยได้มีการเจริญก้าวหน้าอย่างกว้างขวางและเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็ว ซึ่งในแต่ละยุคก็จะมีพืชสมุนไพรนานาชนิดเยอะแยะมากมายที่แตกต่างกันออกไป และคนไทยก็ได้มีการค้นพบสรรพคุณของพืชสมุนไพรชนิดต่างๆและได้นำคุณประโยชน์มาประยุกต์ใช้ในเรื่องของการแพทย์
ในประเทศไทยที่เราอาศัยอยู่นั้นได้มีการอนุรักษ์สมุนไพรไทยต่างๆ ซึ่งสถานที่ที่ได้ทำการอนุรักษ์ไว้มีอยู่หลายจังหวัด เช่น อุทยานธรรมชาติวิทยาสิรีรุกขชาติจังหวัดนครปฐม,สวนสมุนไพรสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี จังหวัดระยอง, มูลนิธิกิตติขจรเภสัชเวทย์ กรุงเทพฯ,สวนสมุนไพรจันทบุรี เป็นต้น และจังหวัดระยองที่เราอาศัยอยู่นั้นก็มีแหล่งอนุรักษ์สมุนไพรไทย ซึ่งมีสมุนไพรมากกว่า 200ชนิด แต่คนในปัจจุบันนั้นมีความรู้เกี่ยวกับสมุนไพรน้อยมากและไม่ค่อยรู้สรรพคุณและโทษของสมุนไพรแต่ละชนิด ซึ่งในการเผยแพร่นั้นเราจะนำเทคโนโลยีมาประยุกต์ใช้ด้วย คือการสร้างสื่อสารคดีเพื่อการเรียนรู้ และเข้าใจได้ง่าย
เหตุนี้ทำให้เราอยากศึกษาเกี่ยวกับสมุนไพรไทยเพื่อที่จะได้นำความรู้ที่ได้มาเผยแพร่แก่คนรุ่นหลังเพื่อได้รับประโยชน์และสามารถนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันได้จริง
