การศึกษาการจัดการไผ่อย่างยั่งยืนของอำเภอเวียงป่าเป้า จังหวัดเชียงราย มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการศึกษา 3 ข้อ คือ (1)เพื่อศึกษาความหลากหลายชนิดพันธุ์ไผ่และภูมิปัญญาการใช้ประโยชน์ (2)เพื่อศึกษาการจัดการไม้ไผ่ของชุมชนในอำเภอเวียงป่าเป้า (3)เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบการจัดการไม้ไผ่ของอำเภอเวียงป่าเป้า โดยใช้วิธีการศึกษาคือ การเดินสำรวจความหลากหลายไม้ไผ่ในพื้นที่ป่า โดยกำหนดเส้นทาง(Line transect) ที่เป็นตัวแทนของระบบนิเวศป่าในอำเภอเวียงป่าเป้า 18 เส้นทาง 12 ชุมชน
