วัดต่อแพตั้งอยู่ที่บ้านต่อแพ ตำบลแม่เงา ห่างจากตลาดขุนยวมประมาณ 7 กม. โดยก่อนที่จะถึงตลาดมีทางแยกจากทางสาย 108 ไปประมาณ 5 กม. เป็นทางลาดยางโดยมีประวัติความเป็นมาของวัดต่อแพ คือเดิมบริเวณวัดเป็นวัดร้างสันนิฐานว่าเป็นวัดของชาวลวะหรือละว้าที่สร้างมาเป็นเวลานานแล้ว ภายหลังเมื่อมีคนอพยพเข้ามาอาศัยอยู่ในหมู่บ้านนี้ จึงพบวัดต่อแพซึ่งมีซากเจดีย์เก่ามีต้นไม้ใหญ่ขึ้นกลางเจดีย์แต่ในตอนนั้น ยังไม่มีใครกล้าเข้ามายังบริเวณนี้เพราะเล่ากันว่ามีผีดุมาก ต่อมาชาวบ้านได้นิมนต์เจ้าอาวาสวัดต่อแพเก่า ( ปัจจุบันเป็นมี่ตั้งศูนย์เด็กเล็ก ) ให้มาทำการบูรณะวัด โดยมีศรัทธาบ้านเมืองปอน บ้านขุนยวมและบ้านต่อแพร่วมกันสร้างศาลาการเปรียญขึ้นมาเมื่อราวปี พ . ศ . 2461
