ประวัติความเป็นมา สถานแสดงพันธุ์สัตว์น้ำเมืองร้อยเอ็ด
สถานแสดงพันธุ์สัตว์น้ำเทศบาลเมืองร้อยเอ็ด เป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวแห่งใหม่ของชาวจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด เป็นแห่งแรกในภาคอีสาน ตั้งอยู่บริเวณบึงน้อยติดกับบึงพลาญชัยทางด้านทิศตะวันตกเฉียงใต้เป็นสถานที่จัดแสดงสัตว์น้ำจืดขนาดใหญ่และทันสมัยที่สุดอีกแห่งหนึ่ง ตั้งอยู่ในที่ดิน เนื้อที่ 2 ไร่ 2 งาน17.6 ตารางวา วางศิลาฤกษ์อาคาร เมื่อวันที่ 24 พศจิกายน 2543 โดย ฯพณฯ นายอนุรักษ์ จุรีมาศ รมต.กระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์(ในขณะนั้น)เป็นประธานในพิธี ก่อสร้างแล้วเสร็จเมื่อวันที่ 12 กุมภาพันธ์ 2545 เพื่อความสะดวกในการดูแลรักษาศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนาประมงน้ำจืดร้อยเอ็ดและกรมประมงจึงได้ถ่ายโอน ให้เทศบาลเมืองร้อยเอ็ดเป็นผู้จัดการในการให้บริการ ตลอดจนการบำรุงรักษา ตั้งแต่วันที่ 30 มกราคม 2546 ใช้งบประมาณประจำปี 2543 จำนวน 53,442,000 บาท
