โครงงานเรื่อง ข้าวโพดอบเนยสี่สหาย นี้เป็นส่วนหนังของวิชาการงานอาชีพและเทคโนโลยี จัดทำขึ้นเพื่อให้นักเรียนและนักศึกษาที่มีความสนใจในการทำอาชีพค้าขายได้มาศึกษาค้นคว้าการทำ ข้าวโพดอบเนย ซึ่งเป็นอาหารว่างที่อร่อยและหอมหวาน สามารถนำความรู้ไปใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันได้อีกด้วย
ข้าวโพดเป็นพืชจำพวกหญ้า รากชั่วคราว เรียกว่า ไพรี มีคุณประโยชน์มากมาย ซื้อหาได้ง่ายตามท้องตลาด คณะผู้จัดทำจึงเลงเห็นว่าควรที่จะนำข้าวโพดนั้นมาแปรรูปผลิตผลให้มีความน่าสนใจและน่าซื้อมากขึ้น คณะผู้จัดทำจึงได้จัดทำโครงงานนี้ขึ้นมา

เนื่องจากข้าวโพดเป็นพืชผักที่หาง่ายในชุมชน มีคุณค่าทางสารอาหารและประโยชน์ต่อร่างกายมากมาย เราจึงนำข้าวโพดที่ได้จากการเกษตร มาแปรรูปเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ข้าวโพดอบเนย ที่สามารถรับประทานได้ง่าย ราคาถูกและอร่อย ไม่แพงเกินไป

วัตถุประสงค์
๑. เพื่อให้มีประสบการณ์ในการประกอบอาชีพค้าขาย
๒. เป็นแนวทางในการประกอบอาชีพในอนาคต
๓. สามารถนำความรู้และประสบการณ์ไปใช้ในอนาคตและชีวิตประจำวันได้อย่างเหมาะสม

สมมติฐานของการศึกษา
สามารถมานำข้าวโพดมาแปรรูปเป็นอาหารที่สามารถรับประทานได้ง่ายและมีรสชาติที่หอมหวานน่ารับประทานมากขึ้น

โดยทั่วไปข้าวโพดจัดออกเป็น ๕ กลุ่ม คือ
๑. ข้าวโพดเลี้ยงสัตว์หรือข้าวโพดไร่ (Field Corn) ที่รู้จักในปัจจุบันเช่นข้าวโพดหัวบุ๋ม (Dent Coorn) และข้าวโพดหัวแข็ง (Fint Corn) ซึ่งเป็นการเรียกตามลักษณะเมล็ดข้าวโพดหัวบุ๋มหรือหัวบุบ ข้าวโพดชนิดนี้เมื่อเมล็ดแห้งแล้วตรงส่วนหัวบนสุดจะมีรอยบุ๋มลงไป ซึ่งเป็นส่วนของแป้งสีขาว ข้าวโพดชนิดนี้สำคัญมากและนิยมปลูกกันมากใน ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา โดยเฉพาะทางแถบคอร์นเบลท์ สีของเมล็ดมีตั้งแต่ขาวไปจนถึงเหลือง
