จังหวัดในภาคเหนือ แบ่งตามลักษณะทางภูมิศาสตร์ ประเพณี สังคม วัฒนธรรมและภาษา ประกอบด้วย 9 จังหวัด ได้แก่

เชียงราย (หิรัญนครเงินยาง)
เชียงใหม่ (นพบุรีศรีนครพิงค์เชียงใหม่)

พะเยา (ภูกามยาว)
