ปั้มความร้อน (Heat Pump) เป็นเครื่องมือโดยใช้การแลกเปลี่ยนความร้อน ซึ่งจะดึงความร้อน นำไป ถ่ายเทในบริเวณที่ต้องการความร้อน หรือกล่าวอย่างง่ายๆ ก็คือการปั้มความร้อนจากจุดหนึ่งไปยังอีกจุดหนึ่ง นั่นเอง ในการทดลองนี้จะใช้น้าเป็นแหล่งจ่ายความร้อนให้กับสารทาความเย็น และ ใช้อากาศเป็นตัวรับ ความร้อนจากสารทาความเย็น
