ที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติดอยผ้าห่มปกอยู่ในอำเภอฝาง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ จากตัวเมืองเชียงใหม่ ขับรถไปตามทางหลวงหมายเลข 107 (เชียงใหม่-ฝาง) ถึงอำเภอฝาง แล้วไปตามถนนฝาง-ม่อนปิ่น ประมาณ 3 กิโลเมตร เลี้ยวขวาไปตามถนน รพช. 4054 อีกประมาณ 8 กิโลเมตร จะถึงบริเวณบ่อน้ำร้อนฝางซึ่งเป็นที่ตั้งที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติดอยผ้าห่มปก สำหรับเส้นทางไปดอยผ้าห่มปกนั้น ควรเดินทางด้วนรถขับเคลื่อนสี่ล้อ ตามถนนสายฝาง-บ้านห้วยบอน ไปจนถึงบ้านห้วยบอน แล้วตรงไปตามถนนลูกรังอีก 5 กิโลเมตร หลังจากนั้นแยกขวาอีกประมาณ 17 กิโลเมตร จะถึงหน่วยจัดการต้นน้ำดอยผาหลวง และแยกซ้ายไปอีก 5 กิโลเมตร จะถึงที่ตั้งแคมป์พักแรมกิ่วลม การเดินทางขึ้นสู่ยอดดอยเป็นการเดินเท้าระยะทางประมาณ 3 กิโลเมตร ใช้เวลาประมาณ 3 ชั่วโมงในการเดินขึ้นและลง อุทยานแห่งชาติดอยผ้าห่มปกอนุญาตให้นำรถขึ้นดอยผ้าห่มปกได้แล้ว โดยต้องขึ้นดอยก่อน 15.30 นาฬิกา และต้องใช้รถกระบะเท่านั้น ห้ามนำรถเก๋ง รถตู้ รถบัส ขึ้นดอย เพราะถนนยังเป็นทางลูกรัง ถ้าไม่มีรถขึ้นดอย สามารถติดต่อรถให้บริการได้ที่ศูนย์บริการนักท่องเที่ยว 1,800 บาท ต่อ 8 คน (ค้างคืน) ที่นี่ห้ามก่อกองไฟบนสนามหญ้า โดยทางอุทยานฯ มีเตาถ่านให้เช่า
