In my opinion, the reason is because they want to work longer due to many factors on this world.
As the article said that older worker is a great asset of the organization, I suggested that all organizations should consider people their “greatest asset”. Older worker definitely has more experience and more knowledge than younger worker. Therefore, we should focus on the Human Resource department. The problem is we are shifting to an older workforce population. We surely cannot change these demographics but we can solve this problem by starting from this department.
First, I agree with the article. We should modify the job duties to the older worker. It relates directly to health and safe of the older worker. The organization should provide the tool and equipment or technology device to support the older worker. This will lead to company’s performance, revenue, and reputation.
Second, according to the article that base on USA. In my opinion, the government should support with life insurance and focusing on unemployment claim. There are people who cannot afford for the medical expense, no matter what country is it. Nowadays, the medical expense in hospital is very high. This is also the reason that makes people keep working on their job. As The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) or ObamaCare in USA, I agree that government should do something with life insurance of the people in the country. It is a human right to have the equality of medical treatment. But the regulation is; the organization that has at least 50 employees or more, which work as the fulltime job, need to buy the insurance for them. I think this regulation should be fixed because most of the company will avoid buying the insurance, which cost them more, by hiring the part time employees. This will effect to the new entrance, which can be older worker, who is looking for the full time job because they want to have the stable occupation before they retired.
Moreover, I think that some of the younger workers also have capability and ability to work not less than older worker. Today, the graduated student tends to spend more time in educational. The reason is that they don’t like and bored in those work places. They were just graduated and want to have something challenging their life. In my opinion, to solve this problem, the older worker should trust and believe in next generation. Older worker should teach and encourage them to work. Older worker should listen to them and educate more about what they want to be and want they want to do.
