The north eastern province of Isaan is justifiably famous as a hub for silk making and trading in the region. To celebrate this fact, Khon Kaen City Hall will host theInternational Silk Festival, “Pook Xiao” Tradition fromNovember 29 to December 10.Featuring silk weavers and traders from six countries in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS)and China’s Guangxi and Yunnan provinces the event will be divided into zones covering international silk products and those from Thai provinces including Roi Et, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham and Khon Kaen. Specifically there will be exhibitions around the history of sericulture, silk weaving, handicrafts, and the unique silk cultures, food and traditions from Vietnam, Lao PDR., China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand. The silk fashion show will take the stage on December 2 and Miss Khon Kaen Beauty Pageant on December 7.
