โครงการวิจัยย่อยที่ 3 “พื้นที่ศิลปะทางเลือกในโฮจิมินต์ซิตี้ สาธารณรัฐสังคมนิยมเวียดนาม ระหว่างปี ค.ศ. 2010-2013” โดยรองศาสตราจารย์สุธี คุณาวิชยานนท์
วัตถุประสงค์มีดังนี้ 1) ศึกษาความเป็นมา การดำเนินงานและบทบาทของพื้นที่ศิลปะทางเลือกในโฮจิมินท์ซิตี้ 2) ศึกษาบริบททางสังคมวัฒนธรรมและทัศนศิลป์ร่วมสมัยของเวียดนาม และนานาชาติที่สัมพันธ์กับการดำเนินงานและบทบาทของพื้นที่ศิลปะทางเลือกในโฮจิมินท์ซิตี้
ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ซัง อาร์ต (San Art) ซีโร่ สเตชั่น (Zero Station) และเดีย/โปรเจ็ค (Dia/Project) เกิดขึ้นหลังปี ค.ศ. 2006 ซึ่งเป็นปีที่มีการจัดไซง่อน โอเพ่นซิตี้ (Saigon Open City) การจัดงานค่อนข้างล้มเหลว เพราะผู้จัดขาดประสบการณ์และขาดการสร้างความเข้าใจร่วมกับภาครัฐ สิ่งที่แขกนานาชาติเห็นในวันเปิด คือ ห้องนิทรรศการที่ถูกล็อกกุญแจโดยตำรวจวัฒนธรรม ประสบการณ์ในงานนี้ทำให้ผู้ที่สนใจทำพื้นที่ทางเลือกเห็นไปในทิศทางเดียวกัน คือ ต้องลดวิสัยทัศน์ และทำงานขนาดที่เล็กลง
