ปัจจุบัน ชาวเชียงใหม่ได้มีการฟื้นฟูวัฒนธรรมการแต่งกายพื้นเมืองขึ้น ซึ่งมีหลายรูปแบบตามเผ่าพันธุ์ของกลุ่มชนที่อาศัยอยู่ในอาณาจักรล้านนาใน อดีต เป็นการประยุกต์รูปแบบของเสื้อผ้าในยุคดั้งเดิมมาแต่งโดยพยายามรักษาความ เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของชาวพื้นเมืองเชียงใหม่ไว้ จึงได้มีการพิจารณาให้ความเห็นชอบในรูปแบบการแต่งกายพื้นเมืองโดยคณะอนุกรรมการวัฒนธรรมจังหวัดเชียงใหม่เมื่อปีพุทธศักราช 2534
