ความสัมพันธ์ทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรม
• ด้านวัฒนธรรม ที่ประชุมคณะกรรมาธิการร่วมว่าด้วยความร่วมมือทวิภาคีระหว่างประเทศไทยกับบรูไน ฯ ครั้งที่ 1 ที่กรุงเทพ ฯ เมื่อวันที่ 30 – 31 มีนาคม 2546 เห็นพ้องในการขยายความร่วมมือทางด้านวัฒนธรรม นอกจากนี้ ในโอกาสฉลองการครบรอบ 20 ปีของการสถาปนาความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตระหว่างไทย-บรูไน ฯ สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ บันดาร์เสรีเบกาวัน ได้ร่วมมือกับกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ กระทรวงวัฒนธรรมและการกีฬาบรูไน ฯ จัดกิจกรรม Thailand Festival 2003 โดยมีการแลกเปลี่ยนศิลปวัฒนธรรม นำคณะนาฏศิลป์และนักดนตรีไปแสดงวัฒนธรรมที่บรูไน ฯ เมื่อวันที่ 23 – 26 พฤษภาคม 2546
• ด้านวิชาการ ปัจจุบันมีนักศึกษาไทยที่มาเรียนในมหาวิทยาลัยบรูไนดารุสซาลาม ทั้งโดยทุนรัฐบาลไทยและบรูไนฯ ประมาณ 50 คน มีนักศึกษามุสลิมที่มาจากจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ที่ได้รับทุนจากทางการบรูไนฯ ให้มาเรียนทางด้านรัฐศาสตร์และการศาสนาประมาณ 20 คน ซึ่งมีทั้งหญิงและชาย แต่ก็มีนักศึกษาหลายคนที่บริษัทเอกชนในประเทศไทย อาทิ การปิโตรเลียมแห่งประเทศไทยส่งไปเรียนวิชาทั่วไป ซึ่งในปี 2549 ไทยได้ให้ทุนการศึกษาแก่บรูไนฯ 1 ทุน ได้แก่ Thai Language Learning among ASEAN Diplomats และรัฐบาลบรูไนฯ ได้ตกลงจัดสรรทุนการศึกษาให้แก่นักเรียนจากประเทศพันธมิตรอาเซียน ประเทศละ 2 ทุน รวม 18 ทุน
• ด้านข้อมูลข่าวสาร ในระหว่างการเยือนบรูไน ฯ อย่างเป็นทางการของนายกรัฐมนตรีเมื่อวันที่ 16 สิงหาคม 2544 รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศไทยและบรูไนฯ ได้ร่วมลงนามใน บันทึกความเข้าใจว่าด้วยความร่วมมือทวิภาคีด้านสารสนเทศและการกระจายเสียงและภาพระหว่าง ไทย-บรูไน ฯ (Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand on Cooperation in the Field of Information and Broadcasting) เพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมให้เกิดความร่วมมือ ด้านข้อมูลข่าวสารและประชาสัมพันธ์ การแลกเปลี่ยนรายการวิทยุ โทรทัศน์และสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ที่มีสาระ ตลอดจนการแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลข่าวสารอันจะส่งผลให้เกิดความเข้าใจอันดีระหว่างประชาชนของทั้งสองประเทศ ปัจจุบัน ได้มีการดำเนินโครงการภายใต้บันทึกความเข้าใจดังกล่าวแล้ว โดยมีการจัดประชุมคณะกรรมการร่วมด้านเทคนิคไทย-บรูไน ฯ (Joint Technical Committee on Information and Broadcasting ) มาแล้ว 3 ครั้ง โดยครั้งสุดท้ายเมื่อวันที่ 19 – 23 มิถุนายน 2547 ณ จังหวัดเชียงราย นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองประเทศได้จัดกิจกรรมร่วมด้านวัฒนธรรมเป็นระยะ ๆ ล่าสุดเมื่อวันที่ 11 มิถุนายน 2548 ได้มีการจัดงานแสดงดนตรีแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมระหว่างสถานีวิทยุกระจายเสียงแห่งประเทศไทยและ สถานีวิทยุบรูไน ฯ ครั้งที่ 3 ณ กาดเธียเตอร์ โรงแรมโลตัสปางสวนแก้ว จังหวัดเชียงใหม่
