หลักการ 4 ประการที่สามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ได้ในชั้นเรียนที่เรียกว่า “Vygotsky” หรือตามแนวคิดคอนสตรัคติวิสต์เชิงสังคม (Social constructivism) ดังนี้

1) เรียนรู้และการพัฒนา คือ ด้านสังคม ได้แก่ กิจกรรมการร่วมมือ (Collaborative activity)
2) โซนพัฒนาการ (Zone of proximal development) ควรจะสนองต่อแนวทางการจัดหลักสูตรและการวางแผนบทเรียน จากพื้นฐานที่ว่า ผู้เรียนที่มีโซนพัฒนาการ จะสามารถเรียนรู้ด้วยตนเองได้โดยไม่ต้องได้รับการช่วยเหลือ แต่สำหรับผู้เรียนที่อยู่ต่ำกว่าโซนพัฒนาการ จะไม่สามารถเรียนรู้ด้วยตนเองได้และต้องได้รับการช่วยเหลือ ที่เรียกว่า ฐานการช่วยเหลือ (Scaffolding)
