ในปัจจุบันเรายังคงพบปัญหาทุเรียนอ่อนทั้งในการส่งออกและภายในประเทศ การนับอายุวันหลังดอกบานเป็นวิธีการหนึ่งที่บ่งบอกความบริบูรณ์ของทุเรียนได้แม่นยำ เพราะเกษตรกรจะเป็นทั้งผู้ผสมเกสรดอกทุเรียนและนับวันหลังดอกบาน งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ สร้างโมเดลทำนายอายุวันหลังดอกบานของทุเรียนหมอนทอง จากการวัดค่าการดูดกลืนแสงช่วงความยาวคลื่น 350 - 750 นาโนเมตร ที่ปลายหนาม และนำไปสร้างโมเดลด้วยการวิเคราะห์จำแนกกลุ่ม โดยใช้ทุเรียนหมอนทองจำนวน 135 ผล 3 ช่วงอายุคือ 113 120 และ 127 วันหลังดอกบาน พบว่าโมเดลสามารถทำนาย อายุวันหลังดอกบานของทุเรียนหมอนทอง ได้ถูกต้อง 99.3 %
