หากกล่าวถึงตำนานกรีก หลายๆคนคงนึกถึง ตำนานเทพปกรณัมกรีก หรือตำนานเทพเจ้ากรีกแห่งยอดเขาโอลิมปัส ซึ่งตำนานนี้เป็นเรื่องปรัมปราและตำนานที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเทพเจ้า, วีรบุรุษ, ธรรมชาติของโลก และจุดกำเนิดและความสำคัญของวิถีปฏิบัติและพิธีในทางศาสนาของชาวกรีกโบราณ เทพปกรณัมกรีกเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของศาสนาในกรีซโบราณ นักวิชาการสมัยใหม่กล่าวถึงเรื่องปรัมปราและศึกษาในความพยายามที่จะอธิบายสถาบันทางศาสนาและการเมืองในกรีซโบราณ อารยธรรม และเพิ่มความเข้าใจของธรรมชาติในการสร้างตำนานขึ้น

เทพองค์ต่อมา คือ เทพโพไซดอน โพเซดอน หรือ โปเซดอน เทพเจ้าแห่งท้องทะเลและมหาสมุทร ผู้ปกครองดินแดนแห่งท้องน้ำ ตั้งแต่แหล่งน้ำจืด เช่น แม่น้ำ ลำคลอง จนถึงใต้บาดาล มีตรีศูล เป็นอาวุธ บางตำนานกล่าวว่ามีท่อนล่างเป็นปลา นอกจากนี้แล้วยังถือว่าเป็นเทพแห่งแผ่นดินไหว และเป็นเทพแห่งม้า ด้วย ตามตำนานเล่าว่า โพเซดอนเป็นบุตรของโครนัส กับรีอา มีพี่น้องร่วมบิดามารดาอีก 5 องค์ ซึ่งล้วนแต่เป็นเทพแห่งโอลิมเปียนทั้งสิ้น ได้แก่
