การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยกึ่งทดลอง (Quasi - experimental research) แบบสองกลุ่มวัดก่อนและหลังการทดลอง (Two group pretest – posttest design) เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมการดูแลตนเองร่วมกับการสนับสนุนของครอบครัวที่บ้าน ต่อคุณภาพชีวิตและความรุนแรงของโรคในผู้ป่วยโรคสะเก็ดเงิน โดยเปรียบเทียบคุณภาพชีวิตหลังการทดลองในสัปดาห์ที่ 4, 8, 12 และความรุนแรงของโรค โดยใช้แบบประเมินความรุนแรงของโรคสะเก็ดเงิน (Severity index of Psoriasis) ก่อนและหลังการทดลอง และเปรียบเทียบระหว่างกลุ่มที่ได้รับโปรแกรมการการดูแลตนเองร่วมกับการสนับสนุนของครอบครัวที่บ้านและกลุ่มที่ได้รับการบริการสุขภาพตามปกติ ใช้ระยะเวลาในการวิจัยทั้งสิ้น 12 สัปดาห์
