นักศึกษาภาควิชาวิศวกรรมเคมี คณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เข้าร่วมการฝึกงานภาคฤดูร้อน ประจำปีการศึกษา 2557 กับบริษัท รวมเกษตรอุตสาหกรรม จำกัด(โรงงานน้ำตาลมิตรผลภูเขียว) สถานที่ตั้ง เลขที่ 99 หมู่ 10 ถนนชุมแพภูเขียว ตำบลโคกสะอาด อำเภอภูเขียว จังหวัดขอนแก่น 36110 เป็นกลุ่มธุรกิจผลิตน้ำตาลในประเทศไทย ระยะเวลาการฝึกงาน วันที่ 1 มิถุนายน – 17 กรกฎาคม 2558 และงานที่ได้รับมอบหมาย คือ วิเคราะห์ความเข้มข้นของน้ำปูนขาว เนื่องจากความเข้มข้นของน้ำปูนขาวไม่ได้ตามที่กำหนด คือ ต่ำกว่า 10 BOME โดยพิจารณาจากปัจจัยที่อาจมีผลต่อความเข้มข้นของน้ำปูนขาวและปัจจัยที่นำมาพิจารณา คือ คุณภาพของปูนขาวก้อนแล้วนำไปวิเคราะห์หา ปริมาณ % CaO และสิ่งเจือปนในปูนขาวก้อน ซึ่งในการทดลองพบว่าปริมาณ % CaO ผ่านเกณฑ์มาตรฐาน คือ ปริมาณ % CaO ไม่ต่ำกว่า 90% และอีกสิ่งที่พบในการทดลองหลังจากการกรองคือ สิ่งเจือปน เช่น หิน กรวด และอื่นๆที่ไม่ละลายน้ำ พบว่าแต่ละครั้งของการทดลองจะมีปริมาณสิ่งเจอปนที่ต่างกันซึ่งปริมาณสิ่งเจือปนจะมีผลต่อความเข้มข้นของน้ำปูนขาว กล่าวคือ ถ้าปริมาณสิ่งเจือปนมากความเข้มข้นของน้ำปูนขาวจะต่ำ(เปรียบเทียบโดยน้ำหนัก) และในทางตรงกันข้ามถ้าปริมาณสิ่งเจือปนน้อยความเข้มข้นของน้ำปูนขาวก็จะสูง
