สถาน ที่ตั้งโรงเรียนจ่าการบุญนี้เดิมเป็นวัด ชื่อวัดราชคฤห์ เป็นวัดที่ตั้งอยู่ระหว่างวัดใหญ่ หรือวัดพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุวรมหาวิหารและวัดนางพญา เป็นวัดรกร้างที่ไม่มีพระภิกษุและศาสนสถานใดใดหลงเหลืออยู่ ชาวบ้านใช้เป็นฌาปนสถานและสุสานฝังศพ ก่อนที่จะย้ายไปสร้างฌาปนสถานเทศบาลถาวร ซึ่งอยู่ข้างทางรถไฟ ( โรงเรียนพุทธชินราชในปัจจุบัน ) ที่ของวัดร้างจึงว่างเป็นที่ดินรกร้างต่อไป ต่อมาในปีพุทธศักราช 2442 กระทรวงธรรมการประสงค์สร้างโรงเรียนประจำมณฑลขึ้น จึงใช้บริเวณที่วัดร้างแห่งนี้ เป็นที่ตั้งโรงเรียน ชื่อโรงเรียนประจำมณฑลพิษณุโลก
