ความซื่อสัตย์ต่อตนเอง คือการเคารพตนเอง เช่น
เมื่อตนเองชอบหรืออยากทำสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่ง ซึ่งบางคนอาจมองว่ามันเป็นสิ่งที่ไม่น่าสนใจ ตนเองจึงเปลี่ยนไปทำในสิ่งที่คนอื่นสนใจ ไปทำตามกระแสที่คนอื่นเห็นว่ามันน่าสนใจ ทั้งที่จริงๆตนเองเองไม่ได้ชอบ ไม่ได้สนใจที่จะทำสิ่งนั้นจริง นั้นคือไม่มีความซื่อสัตย์ต่อความคิดของตนเอง
ความซื่อสัตย์ต่อตนเองคือ ทำในสิ่งที่ตนเองรัก ทำในสิ่งที่ตนเองคิดว่ามันคือเป้าหมายที่ตนเองจะไปให้ถึง ทำในสิ่งที่ตนเองอยากทำจริงๆ เช่นการเลือกคณะในมหาวิทยาลัย ควรเลือกคณะที่ตนเองชอบ ไม่ใช่เลือกเพราะเพียงแค่คนอื่นเลือก จงเลือกในสิ่งที่ตนเองรัก ซื่อสัตย์ต่อความคิด
