เทศบาลนครอุดรธานี จัดประกวดวงดนตรีลูกทุ่ง “ดาวรุ่ง มุ่งสู่ฝัน แชมป์ชิงแชมป์ ครั้งที่ 5 ประจำปี 2556 ชิงถ้วยพระราชทานสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯสยามบรมราชกุมารี
ที่เวทีกลาง งานทุ่งศรีเมืองอุดรธานี ประจำปี 2556 นายอิทธิพนธ์ ตรีวัฒนสุวรรณ นายกเทศมนตรีนครอุดรธานี เป็นประธานเปิดการประกวดวงดนตรีลูกทุ่ง “ดาวรุ่งมุ่งสู่ฝัน แชมป์ชิงแชมป์ ครั้งที่ 5 ประจำปี 2556 ชิงถ้วยพระราชทานสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯสยามบรมราชกุมารี วัตถุประสงค์เพื่อปลุกฝังจิตสำนึกให้เยาวชนมีความรักและหวงแหนศิลปวัฒนธรรม สืบสานตำนานเพลงไทยลูกทุ่ง
สำหรับการประกวดครั้งนี้ มีทีมจากจังหวัดต่างๆเข้าร่วมประกวดจำนวน 6 ทีม รวมทั้งทีมจากโรงเรียนมัธยมเทศบาล 6 นครอุดรธานี ซึ่งใช้เวลาแสดงวงละไม่เกิน 30 นาที มีคณะกรรมการที่เป็นนักร้อง ครูเพลง ครูสอนเต้น ทีมีชื่อเสียงจากส่วนกลาง ให้คะแนนและแนะนำ ผลปรากฏว่าทีมจากจังหวัดอุดรธานี คว้าถ้วยพระราชทานสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯสยามบรมราชกุมารี ในครั้งนี้ไปครอง พร้อมเงินรางวัล 120.000 บาท
