คณะผู้วิจัยทำการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลช่วงเดือนกันยายน ถึงตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2557 โดยใช้เครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล 3 ชุดด้วยกันคือ

ส่วนที่ 2 แบบสอบถามสภาพสมองเบื้องต้น (ฉบับภาษาไทย) (MMSE-Thai 2002)
ส่วนที่ 3 แบบสอบถามความสามารถในการดำเนินชีวิตประจำวัน ดัชนีบาร์เทลเอดีแอล

สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ใช้สูตรการหาความชุกของโรค คือ ความชุกของโรคสมองเสื่อม = (จำนวนกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่มีภาวะสมองเสื่อม x 100)/จำนวนตัวอย่างทั้งหมด นอกจากนี้ยังใช้ความถี่ (Frequency) ร้อยละ (Percentage) สำหรับ Demographic data ของผู้สูงอายุใช้ค่าเฉลี่ย (Mean)และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน (Std. Deviation) เพื่อบอกระดับความสามารถในการดำเนินชีวิตประจำวัน
