ประวัติพระธาตุเรณู พระธาตุเรณู ประดิษฐานอยู่ ณ วัดธาตุเรณู ตําบลเรณู อําเภอเรญูนคร จังหวัดนครพนม สร้างพ.ศ ๒๔๖๐ ฝ่ายสงฆ์มีท่านอาญาครูอินทร์ เจ้าอาวาส เเละท่านอาญาครูสงฆ์รองเจ้าอาวาสเป็นประธานฝ่ายฆราวาสมีขุนเรณูนิติกร กำนันตำบลเรณูขุนโพนทองธรรมราษฏร กำนันตำบลโพนทองเป็นหัวหน้า ได้ชักชวนชาวบ้านทั้ง 2 ตำบลแสนพันด้วยก่อสร้างพระธาตุขึ้นทางทิศตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ของวัดในปัจจุบัน โดยจำรองรูปทรงมาจากพระธาตุพนมองค์เดิม (องค์ก่อนกรมศิลปากรบูรณะเมื่อปี พ.ศ.2483) ทุกอย่างแต่ขนาดเล็กกว่าเป็นทรงเจดีย์ ฐานสี่เหลี่ยมกว้างด้านละ 8.33 เมตร เท่ากัน ทั้ง 4 ด้าน สูง 35 เมตร สร้างด้วยอิฐถือปูน พระธาตุเรณูเป็นเจดีย์บรรจุพระบรมสารีริกธาตุ และพระอรหันตธาตุ พระไตรปิฎก พระพุทธรูปทองคำ พระพุทธรูปเงินเพชรนิลจินดาแก้วแหวนเงินทองหน่องาของมีค่าเจ้าเมืองและประชาชนที่ศรั

ฐหนาให้ได้สี่ช่วงแผ่นอิฐทำการก่อสร้างอยู่ราวปีกว่าก็สำเร็จเรียบร้อยทั้งรูปปั้นลวด
ลายต่างๆด้วยจึงได้จัดงานฉลองสมโภชในปี พ.ศ. 2463 เป็นปีแรก
