ผู้วิจัยได้ศึกษาเรื่องกลุ่มเป้าหมายที่มีปัญหาทักษะทางด้านการฟัง โดยเลือกศึกษาปัญหางานวิจัยกับกลุ่มวัยเรียน นิสิตชั้นปีที่ 2 คณะศิลปะศาสตร์ สาขา ภาษาอังกฤษ เพราะผู้วิจัยพบว่า ยังมีนิสิตบางคนที่ยังมีปัญหาทางด้านการฟังอยู่ ซึ่งอาจจะส่งผลกระทบต่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษในอนาคต แล้วตัวนิสิตก็ได้ศึกษาอยู่ในสาขาภาษาอังกฤษอยู่แล้ว ถ้าหากนิสิตบางคนไม่รู้เรื่องทักษะใดทักษะหนึ่ง ก็อาจจะทำให้เรียนรู้ได้ไม่ค่อยเต็มประสิทธิภาพตามที่ควรจะได้รับ ซึ่งทักษะในการเรียนรู้อันดับแรก คือ ทักษะการฟัง ถ้าหากนิสิตฟังไม่ค่อยรู้เรื่องและจับใจความไม่ได้ ปัญหานี้จะส่งผลกระทบต่อการเรียนรู้ในทักษะด้านอื่นๆ ดังนั้นผู้วิจัยจึงเล็งเห็นปัญหาในการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในอนาคต ผู้วิจัยเลยมีจุดประสงค์ที่อยากจะพัฒนาทักษะด้านการฟังนี้
