งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประยุกต์ใช้หลักการยศาสตร์ในการออกแบบมีดกรีดยางของชาวสวนยางพารา โดยขั้นตอนการศึกษาเริ่มจากการประเมินความเหมาะสมของการใช้งานของมีดกรีดยางแบบปัจจุบัน โดยใช้แบบสอบถามการใช้งานของมีดกรีดยางและการประเมินความเหมาะสมของท่าทางการทำงานโดยวิธี RULA (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment) ผลการศึกษาพบว่าร้อยละ 85 ของกลุ่มตัวอย่าง รู้สึกไม่พึงพอใจในการใช้งานมีดกรีดยาง และค่าเฉลี่ยของคะแนน RULA ของร่างกายด้านซ้ายและด้านขวา อยู่ในระดับที่ควรจะต้องมีการตรวจสอบ และควรมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงการทำงานในไม่ช้า ผู้วิจัยได้ทำการออกแบบมีดกรีดยางของชาวสวนยางพารา โดยพิจารณาข้อมูลการวัดสัดส่วนร่างกายของกลุ่มตัวอย่าง และได้ทำการประเมินค่าดัชนีความไม่ปกติ (Adnormality Index ; AI) ของกลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวน 400 คน ผลการประเมินพบว่าคะแนนของกลุ่มตัวอย่างทุกรายการสอบถามมีค่ามากขึ้น ค่าเฉลี่ยของคะแนน RULA ของร่างกายด้านซ้ายและด้านขวา และผลการประเมินค่าดัชนีความไม่ปกติ (Adnormality Index ; AI) ของกลุ่มตัวอย่างเริ่มเป็นปัญหามากจนทนไม่ได้
