จากการศึกษาข้อมูลการวิจัยพบว่าเป็นการวิจัยเชิงพรรณนา (Descriptive ) และแยกออกเป็น การศึกษาแบบตัดขวาง (Cross – sectional Descriptive Study) ซึ่ง เป็นการศึกษา ณ จุดเวลาหรือช่วงเวลาใดเวลาหนึ่ง เป็นการเก็บข้อมูลเพียงครั้งเดียวไม่มีการติดตามผลไปข้างหน้าหรือย้อนกลับไปในอดีต
การศึกษาเชิงพรรณนาแบบตัดขวาง มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่ออธิบายลักษณะประชากรในแง่ต่างๆ เช่น เป็นการอธิบายขนาด (magnitude) ว่ามีจำนวนเท่าใด การกระจาย (distribution) และความรุนแรง (severity) ของโรค หรือการศึกษาปัจจัยเสี่ยงของการเกิดโรคที่สนใจ ตลอดจนการสำรวจพฤติกรรมหรือความคิดเห็นต่อเรื่องต่างๆ
จากงานวิจัยได้ศึกษาโดยการคัดเลือกกลุ่มประชากรมาจากการสุ่มกลุ่มประชากรทั่วประเทศของประเทศเวียดนามจำนวน 12,000 ครัวเรือน โดยได้แบ่งกลุ่มการศึกษาออกเป็น 100 กลุ่ม กลุ่มละ 120 ครัวเรือน เพื่อศึกษาพฤติกรรมการล้างมือและปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง โดยมีตัวชี้วัดคือ ระดับการศึกษา ศาสนา ฐานะเศรษฐกิจ และสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวก เพื่อประเมินถึงพฤติกรรมการล้างมือของกลุ่มประชากรทั้งหมด
ซึ่งได้ทำการประเมินในช่วงระยะเวลาระหว่างปี 2010 - 2011
