ความเป็นมา
เป็นโบราณสถานแบบขอม 3 หลัง ที่ตั้งอยู่ในบริเวณใกล้เคียงกัน ติดแนวชายแดนประเทศไทยและประเทศกัมพูชาประชาธิปไตย โบราณสถานทั้งสามแห่งต่างมีเสน่ห์ในตัวเองประกอบกับบริเวณที่ร่มครึ้มของดงไม้ใหญ่ จึงเป็นบรรยากาศที่น่าไปเยือน
การเดินทาง จากจังหวัดสุรินทร์ มาตามทางหลวงหมายเลข 214 ผ่านอำเภอปราสาทแยกไปตามทางหลวงสาย 2121 ที่จะไปทางอำเภอบ้านกรวด ไปอีกประมาณ 25 กิโลเมตร จะมีทางแยกเข้าบ้านตาเมียง ไปประมาณ 12 กิโลเมตร ก็จะถึงปราสาทตาเมือนเป็นแห่งแรก

กรมศิลปากร ได้ขึ้นทะเบียนโบราณสถานทั้ง 3 แห่งของกลุ่มปราสาทตาเมือน โดยประกาศในราชกิจจานุเบกษา เล่ม 52 ตอนที่ 75 ลงวันที่ 8 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2478
